We focus on the poorest children in countries where there are trusted programs in place. We are 100% volunteers, and are devoted to making a difference to these innocents. No reward is greater than the simple smile and glee of a child.
Background
Cents For Innocents was founded to establish grants to worthy charities or outreach programs worldwide. The founder, Debbie Allen, hailed from a very poor city in the Philippines and witnessed first-hand the prevalence of poverty, malnutrition and despair. Street kids wandered around all day, begging for money or selling “chiclets” or gum sticks. In travels to other third world countries, she saw the same thing. In these countries, it takes so little in dollars to make a difference, so she established Cents For Innocents as a conduit for bringing resources to the needy children globally. A few cents a day (your loose change) can save the innocent child.
Our Mission
To bring hope to children’s lives, globally, by providing each child a means to discover that one’s circumstances can be transcended through the kindness of others.
What We Do
We identify local projects or programs or local country charities or communities needing help in the areas of:
• Feeding ministries
• Educational programs (vocational and basic) thru scholarships/sponsorship or training
• Job programs (placement, training for interviews)
• Health ministries
• Disaster relief
• English language as a second language (opens up job options in tourism and customer service)
• Home building for deserving families
Donors are welcome to direct their contributions into any area of need. Our criteria for selecting projects looks at the impact possible (more children reached at least cost) and whether the project presents a sustainable program of development. For example, bring the hungry in, then begin to teach them how to gain a livelihood and find support in their community.
Cents For Innocents began giving grants to several worthy programs in the Philippines and will continue to seek to spread the help through out the world.
